The Hip-Hop Professional™ would like you to meet Tony Betton!
Q: What’s your major/area of interest and what school do you attend?
A: I am a current student at Georgia State University in which I major in Journalism with a concentration in Multimedia. I’m interested in working in the film/entertainment industry as well as entertainment journalism & hosting.
Q: What are some of your current projects or activities that you are engaged in on campus? Also, have you completed any beneficial internships/summer programs?
A: I am heavily involved with on and off campus activities. On the campus of GSU, I work with the Spotlight Programs Board in which I am a committee member in Marketing. We promote events, design flyers and create social campaigns. I am also a mentor for the the student support services program called Freshman Institute which is a program I went to myself, to help young men be successful during their freshman year of college. I’m also a tour guide at the Welcome Center. Aside from all of those activities, I also work with many other organizations on campus and off. I’ve worked closely with the King Center since approximately the age of 12, I’m a member/Intern with the National Society of High School Scholars, an Ambassador Alumni, and a Student Council Member. I’m also part of the Usher’s New Look Foundation, which is Usher Raymond’s Leadership Development Program. Within UNL, I am an ambassador, rising star, MIT and proud representative. And that’s just to name a few of the organizations and programs that I work with.
Q: How hard is it being a student and balancing the work you do towards your career goal?
A: I’m going to say that it’s not hard, or easy; I would like to say that it’s a challenge. By creating balance, it shows me that I’m able to have good time management as well as prioritize my work schedule. The crazy thing is even though I’m working towards my career goal and being a full-time student, I still find time to have fun, study… trust me relaxing and sleep is the last thing I get. Plus I’ve always been one to love working.
Q:What are your top social media platforms that you use and why? Is there a new social app that has recently launched that u love?
A: Well, I’ve been on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for a while now. I am also on Snapchat as well as Vine. Vine is the one I’m really pushing right now, of course all of my platforms though. The newest app that I have joined would have to be Periscope. I enjoy Periscope because it’s kind of like a live streaming of what’s going on in your life and it allows you to live stream from your portable devices. And I may have a YouTube channel in the works now, *hint hint* so I suggest a lookout for that.

Q: What are your goals for the next 3 to 5 years?
A: With in the next 3 to 5 years I plan to have a degree in broadcast journalism and be working on my own television show and/or radio show. I plan to be working with other entertainment moguls, building my brand as well as continuing to advance my career. Probably at the peak of that fifth year, I plan on starting my own foundation to give back and teach students and young people the inns and outs of the entertainment industry.
