The Hip-Hop Professional would like you to meet Lorian Jones (Dillard University):
Q: What’s your major/area of interest and what school do you attend?
A: I am Mass Communication major with a concentration in PR at Dillard University.
Q: What are some of your current projects or activities that you are engaged in on campus? Also, have you completed any beneficial internships/summer programs?
A: I write for the Courtbouillon, the school newspaper, and will be entering my senior year as managing editor. I am also in an array of activities: I sing for the school choir, I am on the dance team, I am a student ambassador, and I am also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Q: How hard is it being a student and balancing the work you do towards your career goal?
A: I don’t feel that it’s hard at all. As long as I keep that balance then I am okay. It’s hard to work for two or three days straight without breaks and to relax without getting stressed out. It’s also not ideal spending all my time goofing off and just kicking it with my friends. Keeping it perfectly balanced, by enjoying being a student just hanging out and also getting my work done at the times I need to, is how I get through my day.
Q: What are your top social media platforms that you use and why? Is there a new social app that has recently launched that u love?
A: I love a good classic and am a bit old schooled. Facebook is a great platform as far as interacting with other people. I feel through Facebook people truly convey themselves. Professional pages are the most informative. Personal pages are where you can find good family photos and where people are the most down to earth. Snapchat is taking over the world. I could snapchat all day long. But I use other media as well.

Q: What are your goals for the next 5 years?
A: After graduating May 2016, I plan to intern/work with publicists or PR companies. I aim to get hired working for one of those agencies.
